The NLB Ljubljana Marathon will be in gold again in 2026

The thirtieth edition of the largest running event in the Adria region will shine in gold again. It is the Gold Label WA award from the World Athletics, which it has awarded us for the fourth year in a row!

Let's remember: every year, the World Athletics awards labels to races and marathons that meet strict criteria for excellence in planning and implementing events. These include, among other things, high organizational and implementation quality, an officially measured course, certified timing, medical support and care, appropriate quality and number of runners, and last but not least, the implementation of sustainable measures and solutions.

The awarding of the label is divided into three categories: marathons, half marathons and other events. The highest label (platinum) is awarded to the largest marathons, of which there are sixteen. The second highest rank is the gold badge, and just like the platinum badges, only a limited number of them are awarded – only 25.

Last year, the NLB Ljubljana Marathon was ranked 21st among all marathons in the world according to WA criteria (regardless of the badge, we also left behind such large and well-known events as Vienna, Milan, Prague, Lisbon, Madrid, Venice...), but we are still waiting for this year's rating.
